Insurance and paying for treatment

Overview

How coverage works

Most commercial health plans cover PHP and IOP when they are medically necessary, and federal parity law requires plans that cover mental health to cover it on terms comparable to medical care. What you pay depends on your plan's network rules, deductible, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket maximum. We check all of it before you start, so cost is never a surprise.

Private pay, with payment plans when appropriate

We do not accept Medicare, Medicaid, or state-funded plans

Plans and payment options

Network status depends on your specific plan. When we verify your benefits, we'll tell you whether we're in or out of network for you and exactly what that means for your cost.

Benefits verification

Share your insurance details and we check coverage, deductible, and coinsurance, usually the same or next business day.

Prior authorization

If your plan requires approval, we request it and handle ongoing reviews with your insurer.

Deductible deposit

We ask for a deposit equal to your remaining deductible before you start.

Payment plans

When it's reasonable, we can set up a payment plan by automatic bank draft in place of the full deposit.

Out-of-network billing

If we're out of network for your plan, we bill your out-of-network benefits and explain what you'd owe before you decide.

FAQ

Insurance questions

Are you in network with my plan?

It depends on your specific plan, not just the insurance company. When we verify your benefits, we'll tell you whether we're in or out of network for you and what that means for your cost.

Does IOP cost less than PHP?

Usually, because IOP involves fewer hours of treatment each week. Your actual cost depends on your plan.

What if my insurer denies coverage?

We'll tell you right away and explain your appeal options. You have the right to an internal appeal and, for most plans, an independent external review. If coverage is denied or not yet authorized, continuing treatment requires self-pay, which we refund if your plan later pays.

Will my employer see my claims?

No. Your employer does not receive the details of your health claims. Your health information is protected under HIPAA.

Do you accept Medicare or Medicaid?

No. Novaris works with commercial insurance and private pay. If you have Medicare or Medicaid, your plan's member services line can point you to participating programs.
